EVIDENCE FOR HEALTH PROMOTION AMONG THE OLDER PEOPLE
CRACOW, SEPTEMBER 21-22, 2015
1st Conference of Project “Pro Health 65+”
Health Promotion and Prevention of Risk. Actions for Seniors
Conference place: Centre Faculty of Medicine, 16 Sw. Lazarza Street, Cracow, Poland
Hosting organization: Jagiellonian University Medical College, Cracow, Poland
Building on the project research findings and discussions, the conference had two main objectives.
First, the conference addressed the evidence on the health status of older people in Europe, assessment of health promotion programs targeting older people, identification of institutional arrangement, funding of health promotion activities as well as the economic evaluation of health promotion and prevention for older people. As planned, literature reviews on these topics were conducted in successive project work packages and research tools were prepared for further project activities. Presentations of project results and discussion touched upon the central policy question on how to maintain and improve the health of older citizens.
Second, during the conference, opportunities were offered for informal discussions between participants to strengthen future collaboration and project coordination and to rise common knowledge on what is done and what needs to be done in the future as far as the research and implementation of project results is concerned, specifically with regard to the involvement of health promoters working with older people.
Our speakers and commentators included researchers and health promotion professionals across Europe. These are project team members as well as external experts from Poland, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania and the United Kingdom.
